Biography

Sophie Garner has established herself as one of the most talented performers coming through the UK roots music scene.

 

Sophie has a very powerful voice and charismatic stage presence. Her music is a blend of Jazz, blues, soul and rock. Sophie draws her influences from many different genres of music and this has influenced her to become a very powerful and prolific song writer. Her original material stands on its own and is totally unique.  Sophie’s music has attracted a fan bass that crosses genres and age groups.

She has performed at thousands of jazz and blues clubs, music festivals and concerts across England, Europe and the Middle East since she was awarded for being the finalist in the Perrier Jazz Vocalist of the Year competition. Her debut album ‘Champagne and False Eyelashes’ received critical acclaim upon its release by leading jazz critics and received national air play.  

 

She has opened for Will Young, The Sugababes and McFly and entertained the likes of Van Morrison and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Fans include one of Sophie’s musical hero’s Keith Emerson of Super group Emerson Lake and Palmer. She has played to sell out audiences at London's leading Jazz club Pizza on the Park and has even performed at The Houses of Parliament! Sophie has appeared on many radio and TV programmes both in the UK and Europe as well as writing and performing music for film. Sophie is currently in the process of writing and recording in the studio for her debut solo album which is due for release in the spring of 2008.
